Frequently Asked Questions:

From 1 July 2025, the New Zealand Government’s Depositor Compensation Scheme (DCS) protects up to $100,000 per eligible depositor, per licensed bank or non-bank deposit taker.

This limit applies across all holdings with the same provider – whether invested directly or via InvestNow.

How this works in practice:

  • If you hold $100,000 directly with BNZ and $50,000 with BNZ through InvestNow, your total cover with BNZ remains $100,000 (not $150,000).
  • Deposits with different providers are covered separately (e.g. $100,000 with BNZ and $100,000 with ANZ may both be covered in full).

Term deposits available through InvestNow are issued by underlying licensed banks and non-bank deposit takers (not InvestNow). They are eligible for DCS protection up to $100,000 per depositor, per provider, subject to eligibility criteria.

For full details, including eligibility and covered accounts, visit the Reserve Bank of New Zealand website.

Currently, we offer interest at maturity, unless the Term Deposit is for a term of 2 years or longer, where interest will be paid either monthly, quarterly, or annually depending on the bank.

At maturity, you have the options to choose;

  • Not to rollover, at which time the principle and net interest will be credited to your InvestNow Transaction Account
  • Only the principal to roll over, with the net interest credited to your InvestNow Transaction Account
  • Principal and net interest roll over

You will receive notification by email, five days prior to the maturity date of your Term Deposit, advising that you can amend your rollover preferences right up to the day before your Term Deposit is due to mature/roll over.

Term deposit orders are processed once a day – they are sent to each bank at 12pm each working day (no orders are processed during weekends or national public holidays).

Each bank has their own terms & conditions for accepting and processing any break request – you can find those details here. Break requests will be handled directly between you, us and the relevant bank. If you wish to raise a break request please contact us here or email us at contact@investnow.co.nz

The minimum investment amount for ANZ is $10,000. The minimum investment amount for the Bank of China is $25,000. For all other banks, the minimum investment amount is $2,000.
