“A relatively stable global growth outlook belies an underlying divergence in prospects, especially among the key developed economies. Following a period of synchronised upward momentum through 2017, mid-way through 2018 it is only the United States with continued momentum.
After a typically weak start to the year, US GDP growth appears
to be bouncing back in the second quarter. Stronger growth continues to be underpinned by a tightening labour market, strong productivity-enhancing investment and easier fiscal settings.
