Important Information

  • For a description of what each column heading means, please click here.
  • The performance figures are for periods ending 31 March 2025.
  • Past performance is not a guarantee of future returns. Returns are after fees, before tax and denominated in NZD. Performance figures over 1 year are annualised.
  • Performance data is sourced from Morningstar or from the underlying fund manager.
  • For any funds offered within the InvestNow KiwiSaver Scheme, the fund performance figures outlined are for the underlying funds that it invests into.
  • Please note, the PDS fee is the manager’s estimated total annual fund charge as stated in the Product Disclosure Statement (PDS) for this fund. The Quarterly Fund Update (QFU) Fee is the latest actual total annual fund charge reported by the fund for its most recent financial year, as stated in the fund’s most recent Quarterly Fund Update. Both figures include any applicable GST as well as any performance-based fees if applicable.
  • The Vanguard International Shares Select Exclusions Index Fund and Vanguard International Shares Select Exclusions Index Fund (Hedged) – NZD Class are subject to a transaction fee charge of 0.30% for all Buy Orders in addition to the applicable Buy/Sell Spread. Please see the PDS for full details on the charges that can apply.
  • Managed funds in New Zealand must have a standard risk indicator. The risk indicator is designed to help investors understand the uncertainties both for loss and growth that may affect their investment. You can compare funds using the risk indicator – 1 is lower risk and potentially lower returns, while 7 is higher risk and potentially higher returns.

We are introducing a transaction fee on all buy orders to cover costs associated with offering the Vanguard International Shares Select Exclusions Fund and Vanguard International Shares Select Exclusions – NZD Hedged Fund. These costs include currency, transaction, and custody costs to offer both funds.

No. There is currently no sell transaction fee associated with the Vanguard funds. If we introduce a sell fee, you will be given notice of the fee introduction in the same way we have communicated this buy fee.

No. We are not looking to introduce a transaction fee on any other funds offered by Fund Managers through the InvestNow platform.

The fee is 0.30% and will begin from 12pm on 25th March 2024. The fee is applicable to all buy orders into the two Vanguard funds – Vanguard International Shares Select Exclusions Index Fund and Vanguard International Shares Select Exclusions Index Fund (Hedged) – NZD Class. When you place the buy order through InvestNow, the transaction fee will be displayed in dollars.

As an example: From 12pm on March 25th, 2024, if you place an order for $1,000 on either of the Vanguard funds, there will be a $3 transaction fee to cover currency, custody, and transaction costs. After the transaction fee, the remaining amount that would go towards the fund would be $997 ($1,000 – {0.30% X $1,000}).

Please note, this transaction fee is charged by us (InvestNow), not Vanguard, and is additional to any fund-related fees charged by the Vanguard funds themselves.

InvestNow recently introduced a range of PIE funds through the Foundation Series funds that enables customers to access Vanguard’s low-cost global ETFs. You can find more information on the Foundation Series funds here, and the benefits include:

  1. Convenient, tax-efficient PIE-tax structure – Taxed at a maximum of 28% p.a. in contrast to the 39% maximum tax rate of the Vanguard AUTs
  2. Low in-fund management fees – Management fees starting from 0.03% p.a. and buy/sell transaction fees of just 0.50%
  3. Less withholding tax slippage – The new funds benefit from a tax offset on the non-resident withholding tax. Therefore, US dividends generated by the new funds will not experience the same level of withholding tax slippage as the Vanguard AUTs

You can also find a range of other suitable low-cost global shares funds here.

A buy/sell transaction fee is charged prior to any money being invested and never touches the fund (i.e. the company charging the buy/sell transaction fee retains the fee to pay for the costs of offering the investment. This includes currency, transaction, and custody costs).

A buy/sell spread is charged by the fund itself, to offset the costs of trading.

Both buy/sell transaction fees and buy/sell spreads have a similar impact on the end investor, in that it reduces the amount invested/received when transacting. The difference lies in whether this charge goes towards the fund (buy/sell spread) or external to the fund (buy/sell transaction fee).
