InvestNow Account Security Guide

It’s important for everyone to be aware of online security risks, and take proactive steps to ensure that their assets, personal information and privacy are as protected as possible. We support and encourage our customers to use best-practice techniques to keep their InvestNow accounts as secure as possible, which extends to general email and device security. See our top security tips below.

InvestNow account security tips

Choose a strong, unique password for your account ensure the password you use for your InvestNow account is not the same as any other password you use for your other accounts, especially your email account. Your InvestNow password requires a minimum of eight characters, and a mix of upper- and lower-case characters, numbers and symbols. Go to cert.co.nz for information on how to create a good password.

Setting your MFA to ‘Authenticator App’ means, when you attempt to log in, your unique login passcode will be available on the Authenticator App of your choosing. This can enhance your account security in a scenario where your email account has been compromised. Find out here how to change your Multi Factor Authentication.

Review your InvestNow account user permissions – if there are multiple members on your account, you can review the permissions of the other members under Account Settings > Other members. You can also choose how many members are required to approve each order or withdrawal – just email us at contact@investnow.co.nz if you would like to change these settings.

Review your InvestNow account activity – log in to your account from timetotime to check for any unusual activity. We recommend reviewing your account activity every couple of months. If you see any unusual activity, please call us on 0800 499 466 or email us at contact@investnow.co.nz

General email and device security tips

Don’t know, don’t click (computer) – resist the urge to click on links and attachments in emails from people or email addresses you don’t know. Scammers will use fake email addresses to send you links that can penetrate your email and device security. A good way to spot scam emails is to check the email address – if it does not contain a legitimate business domain e.g. contact1124@outlook.com, play it safe by ignoring or reporting the email. Another good way to spot a scam is to check for spelling errors. In general, it’s best not to click on things that look suspicious.

Don’t know, don’t tap (smartphone) – once again, resist the urge to tap on links in text messages from unknown numbers. This is another way scammers can penetrate your device security. In general, it’s best not to tap on things that look suspicious.

Don’t know, don’t connect (WiFi) – be cautious about using public Wi-Fi networks, as insecure Wi-Fi networks may allow other people to see your data.

Keep your devices and apps up to date – updates aren’t just about adding new features, they’re also about addressing security vulnerabilities.
